  2. I am having the exact same problem trying to open Premiere 6 exported avi? No ideas yet. Noticed however that if you capture a clip from camcorder and save it as avi (not using the export funtion but just SAVE AS) then TMPGenc opens it just fine. It appears that the problem occurs as Premiere exports a timeline? Any ideas guys. This should just work

  3. u r asking questions but providing very little background ingo. there can be a bunch of reasons why the AVI file cant be opened. unless u provide more specific info (e.g. how the AVI file was created), noone can answer your question. it could be a bad AVI file. did u try to open it with Windows Media player?

  4. Try TMPGEnc ver.12a, maybe it might work.

  5. When you export the .avi from Premiere, make sure that NO compression codecs are turned on. The .avi should be raw and uncompressed. You may think that it's uncompressed when you view it, but actually it might have compression on with 100% quality level (making it look uncompressed, but the codec is still on).

  6. Well in my case i have a Toshiba PDRM70 which has a movie clip feature. It records video in .avi format. I just recently while scrutinizing my manual that it records in motion-jpeg format. I have to use Quicktime to open the files. Is there a converter that will convert motion-jpeg to a readable format that i can make into VCD?

  7. ID,

    Have you tried to re-encode the avi with Virtual Dub and then try converting with TPMGEnc? Hope this helps.

    We're assuming that all codecs are installed and the avi file isn't a corrupt or bad download?

  9. Whoo hoo, playing with the TMPGenc codec priority fixed it. Now TMPGenc can open Premiere 6 exported AVI files. Here is what settings allowed this:

    AVI VWF compatibility reader --> -1
    AVI2(openDML)file reader ------> -1

    all other plug-ins/readers ----> 0

  10. There is a program called decompress.exe that you can find at http://www.divx-digest.com. Get that run it and then open that file with Tmpeng. It should work. I had the same problem which said unsupported and tried everything from Virtuadub etc and no go until I found this program. I had a problem encoding Tomb Raider and now I can watch it on VCD.
