Hi,
I have an MP4 VIdeo which I am able to play on another machine. I am also able to play using Windows Media player and GOM player (Latest K-lite installed) on my laptop but VLC couldn't play it.
VLC plays only audio but no video. I tried re-installing latest VLC but no luck.
Could any please advise to fix this problem?
TIA

lol - it has a 64kbs bitrate. it's a piece of trash, 64kbs is not a decent bitrate for audio. try other players but it's going to look like garbage in all of them.

Maybe the file was muxed incorrectly, OR in a way that VLC doesn't know how to handle.
For example, I've seen WMVs that confuse ffdshow's video decoder, and also MPGs which play fine in WMP, but not in other DirectShow players (MPC-HC).
So you should try remuxing it through mp4box, ffmpeg, or L-Smash.
Just for the notes, and IIRC, sometime before 1975there were some MKVs that were designed especifically to annoy the VLC users.

If one player plays it then use that one.
There is so much wrong with that video that I am surprised that anthing can play it. Variable frame rate etc.
But the biggest sinner is the audio bit rate compared with the video. The audio is killing the video for that reason. And the issue is the quality. 18 meg for 2 hrs 34 mins AND full frame size. The file name says 'junk'. Absolutely perfect name. -

hech54 probably hit the nail on the head. the mp4 has incorrect info in the headers. the file size can't be 18mb total if the video is 70.5mb and the audio is 42.8mb. where in the world does 18=70.5+42.8
and the total bitrate can't be 16.4kbps if the video is 64kbps and the audio is 38.9kbps
you might try re-encoding it from variable frame rate to constant frame rate if you have to get vlc to play it.--

I couldn't agree more.
The idiot who encoded it with the audio bit rate actually higher than the video bit rate didn't even downsample the resolution?
There is not one single movie or any other video in existence that I like enough to watch with that quality. Even on a phone. -
