  1. Using WLMM - video in wmv format displays only 1st clip and then remaining clips are same clip as first clip (e.g.same photo as first). Select clip and correct clip contents. Have tried in Windows VIsta & Windows 7, in different formats (e.g. avi, mp4, mpg & vob) and still no good. Is this proper? Thanks for past and future forthcoming assistance. OleMan

Mediacenter? Nope. I'm moving you to our editing section.

I would find a better editor...

First of all, you need to rewrite your post into something understandable, and I don't mean yours is "too lofty", it's the other way around.

  4. Hi & many thanks for the replies. Any suggestion for a free video software editor? When I view a wmv or mpg video the 1st clip displays an image from that clip. The remaining clips display the same image as the 1st - all clips have the same image. I expect a different in each clip with the image coming from the clip itself. THe clips have different content in each clip but the image is that of the 1st clip. I suspect that tihis is not proper? Am i off base or is this peculiar for a wmv format video in WLMM? Thank you.

  5. Try loading only one clip at a time and editing/playing that in Window Movie Maker. Now do you get THAT same image from each clip that you loaded separately? If so you need to tell us more. How did you record those clips? What camera model? List your computer specs too.

In your case, you might consider the cheapest version of Sony Vegas. Around $50. It's a very good editor that can handle mixed-bag media.

The free editing tools have a steeper learning curve, and you need a stronger foundation in understanding what you're doing.

  7. Many thanks for the recent excellent ideas. Appreciate your patience. First I get a different image for each clip.Clips recorded on a Canon ZR25 DV model and imported to a WIndows XP pc and created in wmv format. The 2nd suggestion is good in that I do need software easier to use. I priced SONY Vegas on Amazon and the cost was aroung $70.00 wihich is pricey for software that I will not use often. I signed up for a free consultation on WLMM with my nearest Microsoft store. The problem is that the wlm video is 1 large clip. To change the image of smaller clips/segments to change the image which then displays an image from that clip.I was shown fow to trim clips and the MS tech spent about 45 minutes with me. No fee. To me this speaks highly of Microsoft. VideoHelp forum has been quick to respond, very patient with a novice and pleasant in past video problems I had. Keep it up John L.

OleMan, the cheapest MovieStudio is $45. http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/vegassoftware

You don't need Version12. You better grab this while it's cheap. You can upgrade for full value later.
