  1. I have a Lite-On DH-4B1S in Imgburn it comes up as ATAPI BD B DH4B1S 7P5C. I just got some 25gb bd-r Optical Quantum and there website says firmware 7112. Since I am at 7P5C my drive does recognize the bd-r to burn. I have been looking for hours Lite-On website useless. Any clue on where to find 7112? Thanks

It appears you may have the latest firmware according to http://www.firmwarehq.com/Lite-On/DH-4B1S/files.html. The 7112 is likely an older firmware, and the Optical Quantum site probably means 7112 or later firmware. Older firmwares are often no longer available on the LiteOn site.

stock firmware loaders will not let you downgrade. if you have the newest then you are stuck unless you can find some hacked version.

the disc may not be the same as what is listed. they don't make them, they only put their name on the blanks, use imgburn to try and get the mid to see who actually made the disc.

I've NEVER heard of ImgBurn refusing to burn a disc because it needed a firmware upgrade. I have my doubts about this being the true cause. Your burner dates from 4-5 years ago. Maybe it's just getting towards the end of its useful lifespan.

Go to the About ImgBurn box in the program and try sending a message to the author. He is a member here, but he isn't very active. Tell him that you posted something here about the problem. Maybe he'll jump into the thread and provide some help here where others can find it and learn from it.

I found firmware update instructions on the US page for your drive http://us.liteonit.com/us/bd-internal/item/bdinternal/dh-4b1s

Lite On recommends a tool, SmartPack, to find the latest firmware for your BD drive and download it automatically. The download link for SmartPack itself is at the bottom of this page: http://www.liteonodd.com/en/service-support/download/cat_view/44-/54-

Does the LiteOn site have the 7D16 firmware? If so, I suggest trying the latest official firmware. However, according to reply #8 at http://club.myce.com/f61/lite-dh-4b1s-new-firmware-239898/ your drive supports BDR-ROM but not BDR burning with 7P53 firmware and may not support BDR burning even with latest firmware. Also a user at http://club.myce.com/f116/br-drive-compat-274853/had problems even with the 7112 firmware, and it may well be you'll need a newer drive to burn BDR media.

Edit: It probably won't hurt to try flash to latest firmware to see if it will burn then.

Regarding http://club.myce.com/f61/lite-dh-4b1s-new-firmware-239898: You misunderstood _chef_. He was a replying to the 2 posts above his, which asked about the dh-4b1s's ability to scan BDs using Nero CD DVD speed. He meant the dh-4b1s did not support scanning. He did not mean that dh-4b1s is not a BD burner. The Lite-On DH-4B1S is definitely a burner. Look at the US webpage in my link above if you need confirmation.

Optical Quantum makes both 6X BD-R media and 4X BD-R media. Which do you have?

I read a few reviews at a retail website (newegg.com) where the reviewers indicated that their Optical Quantum 6X BD-R did not burn properly. Plus, you have a older burner that can burn BD-R at 4X maximum. If different firmware doesn't help, either your burner is incapable of using the Optical Quantum media you have, or the burner is wearing out.

  11. I got the smartpack program a few days ago nothing. Like to try different firmware just no luck getting one. The last three I got said Dell drive not detected ???? The Optical Quantum are at 4X and the MID says PHILIP-R04-000. I was thinking of the burner itself too but I had a few TDK bd-r around and they worked perfect. There might be a spindle of bd-r's for sale.

Was the 7D16 firmware at http://www.firmwarehq.com/Lite-On/DH-4B1S/files.html tried, and does it give Dell drive not detected? Also have you tried contacting LiteOn support? Once I got the latest firmware for a very old LiteOn burner by contacting LiteOn support.
