  1. I am in the process of backing up my DVDs to a hard drive. I have several DVDs that I burned with Tmpgenc from AVI files that play just fine in my DVD and BluRay players, but when I put them into the computer I get "invalid DVD structure" when I try to rip them and I am unable to open up the VOB files in any sort of program. Any idea of how I can get around this situation so I can convert these DVDs to MKV?

  2. Try MakeMKV. No conversion necessary. Sounds like bad media.

  3. Make MKV gives me "failed to open disc". I can copy the files to my desktop no problem and try that way and I still get the same problem. In the BluRay though . . . it plays just fine . . .

    How do you copy them?

You don't need to rip anything from home made dvds. BUT it might work better to copy with a dvd ripper like dvdfab decrypter, dvd decrypter, etc as they might ignore some errors.

If they fail try copy on another computer/dvd drive.

And last try dvd recovery software like isobuster, cdroller.
