  1. Hello all!

Im trying to burn to a 50GB BD-R disc. My issue is, what I'm trying to burn which when I check the properties says that it's 48.1GB in size burn ImgBurn states that the files are too big to burn? I don't understand why that would be the case when the disc is 50GB. Can someone assist?

    Thanks

This may be due to the old "What is a byte?" question.

I suppose I should add that if ImgBurn tells you "It's too big" then you should believe it. You'll need to look into using BDRebuilder to shrink the files down.

Sometimes rips of 3D films or discs that contain both an original cut and an extended version of a movie are not always done correctly and result in ripped files that are too large to fit on BD-R DL discs. This is really a ripping issue. Supposed DVDFab has a version that can rip 3D films correctly, but it's not free any more. If you don't have the original disc then you'll need to look into using BDRebuilder.

  4. Thanks for responding jman98! It is a 3d film, but, does BD re builder have the capability to shrink this to say 45GB? I don't think it does, do you know of any software that has the capability to shrink to something within the 40'sGB range?

BD Rebuilder has the ability to output to custom sizes. So, yes, you can set it for 45gb.

And the latest version has support for 3D blu ray, but movie only. You'll lose menus and extras. And it takes some extra work to add the DirectShowMVCSource.dll needed for 3D in BD Rebuilder. Look at pages 850 and 851 of the BD Rebuilder bug thread at doom9: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=143716&page=850

You might be better off simply removing extras to get it to a smaller size. ClownBD can give you a movie only output without re-encoding anything.

  7. Thanks guys! I'm not sure if all 3D's have the option but, when I put the disc in the player, it asks if I want to view the film in 2D or 3D. Quite honestly all I want is the 2D option with ALL of the menus, previews, etc..

  8. AFAIK, you need to rip a 3D disc as an ISO image (like with AnyDVDHD). Then simply burn the ISO to BD50 with ImgBurn. Ripping as files won't do. That is, if you want to preserve the entire disc intact and playable.

Otherwise, you should be able to extract the 2D version with, say, DVDFab. Some 3D movies come with separate discs for each option, 2D or 3D, with 2D locked out on the 3D version. Other discs will have both options accessible, like the movie Dredd.
