Hi all,
I've recorded a video using a digital camcorder, but am now struggling to play the file. It's a .mov file, but when I try to play the file in Quicktime, whilst the audio is fine, the video jumps around and has occasional green frames. The file has the same problem in VLC, and in Adobe Elements. But when I play the file in Windows Media Player, it's completely fine. On a friends' Mac, the file plays fine in Quicktime but also plays strangely in his copy of Adobe Elements.
Any ideas on what the problem might be? I want to be able to edit the file in Adobe Elements. Would converting the file to a different format fix it, or would it just preserve the problem? Obviously the file itself must in some sense be fine, since it plays ok in WMP on my PC and in QT on my friends' Mac.
Unfortunately, I don't know the make of the recorder (I *might* be able to find out if it's crucial). File info follows below:

You can try remux it with mpeg streamclip. Open mov and use the save function and.see how it works.
Or try remux it to a mp4 with mymp4boxgui, avidemux, etc. Open and save as new mp4. -
Thanks for the suggestions Baldrick, but no luck. mpeg streamclip plays the sound fine but dispays no video at all, and this problem is predictably replicated if I try to save it in a new format. mpmp4boxgui produces an error when I try to do anything with the file except demux it. avidemux crashes (!) if I so much as try to open the file. Normally I'd think the file is just broken, but I can't understand why it plays fine in some places. Any other suggestions?
Thanks again,
Alex
