You are going to have to look in the manual and read what kind of file and what kind of video/audio codecs that thing can recognize. I can find no info online.

    FAT32 should always be supported.

Having the player tell you that the USB is empty when you know it's not probably is its way of telling you "I don't recognize any of the formats on the USB stick".

It's impossible to find any useful information about this fly-by-night player. As hech54 points out, you have no choice but to read the manual to see what it supports. NONE of the websites I found this listed on list any formats that it supports other than MP3 and DVD video.

thanks for replies - with a LOT of googling i have discovered that LOGIK tvs are a) crap and B) pretty much only play mpeg2 files
used movavi to convert the files for me (using the handy tutorial) and the films now play on the tvs via the USB

this is a big achievement for a blonde person you know

Logik is a Curries only brand.
Like all box-shifters, Curries "Product Details" are sadly lacking in any useful information.
Compatible media for the Logik L9DUELM12 Dual Screen Portable DVD player looks to be well covered (DVD, DVD +/- R, DVD +/-RW, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD Video, MP3), but absolutely no details of what filetypes are compatible for playback via the USB port, or if anything other than MPEG2 can be played from DVDR/RW etc. There SHOULD be details in the printed user manual that came with the player of what can be played via USB.
    Screen(s) resolution is a low 640*234, and it's Region 2 only.
But for 2 Portable DVD players costing only £90 (inc. 20% VAT) to keep the kids quiet in the car, it's a bit of a bargain
