Should I record using AVCHD or MP4?

My camcorder can record AVCHD 28Mbps at 60p or 30fps (30 fps is recorded at 60i) and Dolby Digital AC3 audio.
    It can records MP4 35Mbps at 60p and 30p and MPEG-2 AAC-LC audio.

  2. You should do a test to see which looks best to you. I have used both. However, I use AVCHD at a 18Mbps so that I can put it on a DVD and play it back on my Blue Ray player. So, it really is up to the editor you use and which one edits the easiest on your computer.

  3. Is there some camcorder besides HF G30 that can do the same thing, mp4 35Mbit/s and AVCHD 28 Mbit/s ?

I want to use MP4 because it does 35Mbps rather than 28Mbps and it records 30p rather PF30 (30fps recorded at 60i).
I'm wanting to record at 30fps. Not sure if there's any downside to recording 30fps that actually records at 60i.
These are mainly family family videos and I don't have any specific output (YouTube, DVD, etc.). I just want the setting that gives me the best quality.
