I have a short video clip that i want to increase the volume of the audio level of PART of the clip. ie increase the volume of a small section.
I have ripped the clip using SHRINK and the used DEMUX to separate the video and audio tracks. My intention was to the use MULTIQUENCE to adjust the audio level as required the REMUX the tracks back together. However DEMUX has outputted the audio as an AC3 file and MULTIQUENCE doesnt recognise AC3, only MP3.
Is there any easier way of acheiving my task or do I need to convert the AC3 to MP3 then alter that MP3 audio level, then REMUX them.....
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

If you load the audio track into Audacity and select the region you want to alter, you can use the 'Amplify' Effect to increase the volume just in the area you want to make louder. You will need to install the FFmpeg Import/Export Library to use AC3 and export with a custom mix setting.

Great info thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction, I am having a slight problem installing the lame encoder.
When I import the ac3 audio file into audacity it gives the error message......
"Audacity attempted to use FFmpeg to import an audio file but the libraries were not found"
I have installed the encoder to my C: drive as the instructions specify, but when i go to prefrences/library and browse for the avformat library I cant find it, question is where will this be located.
below are what the website say to locate FFMPEG, but as i say i cant find my avformat library
- If the "Locate FFmpeg" dialog appears, click "Browse...".
- Navigate to the avformat library, and select it. It may have different names, such as "avformat-52.dll" on Windows, "libavformat-52.dylib" on Mac or "libavformat.so.52" on Linux.
- Click "Open" then "OK", and "OK" again to close Preferences.

My humble apologies.........I hadnt read the instructions to the letter and had installed LAME in my haste...............Audacity is now excepting the file......THANKS AGAIN!!!!!!

Audacity has its own library. If you go back to the main site>plugins there is a LAME (MP3) plugin there too you will need.
Restart Audacity and go to Preferences and tell it where you put the plugins.

Edit: ah, very good. Have fun!
