I guess you'd call this a beta since the full release isn't until later this year.
I am surprised by the 1200.00 (or is it 1500?) price point on those. Way too pricey for a tech oddball for me definitely.
Though I'd be interested in a stripped down video only version if google were to make one strictly for watching videos.
Speaking of which has anyone ever tried any variation of those video glasses that play just video and are supposed to make the equivalent of a giant tv screen right in front of your eyes? Have they made hd versions of those?

Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

Back with the same question above. Anybody use these glasses? How are they?
-
I wonder if it would be like that star trek the next generation episode with that virtual reality game that was used to take over the ship? Remember the 4th or 5th season episode where Wesley came back and had to save the day again???

That's the Holodeck and it's completely different from those google glasses.

He's not talking about the holodeck. He's referring to the episode, "The Game", where a headpiece is worn by the player and through thought-waves they attempt to put a virtual disc into a virtual funnel. It's an incredibly simple and addicting game with an alternate sinister purpose.

Since I started trying to learn Japanese one cool thing i thought of that would be neat if they could do it would be to superimpose the translated word over an object.
Say you are looking at a glass - you log into the translation program and when you look at the glass it gives you the Japanese word for it.

Personally I think they look rather strange, but Google is taking the initiative on this growing market. I definitely think there is a market for this type of technology. But I still wonder, what will happen to those that actually need to wear glasses in order to see? Will they be forced to get Lasik or wear contacts?

Jalexander what growing market is using weird looking glasses to see stuff?

Yeah, that's all we need. If idiots texting while driving isn't bad enough, now we have drivers with Google glasses. Terrific.

I think he was a Google shill as it looks like he just signed up to say that.
