  1. I've been having trouble playing .avi files in VLC from a site I regularly visit, they run like slideshows on my old laptop. Someone turned me towards Media Player Classic for it's lesser demand on the processor, and it worked!

    ...For one video.

The other 3 I have from the same site and same uploader load the first frame, and then just sit there even though the MPC-HC says it is "playing." Pausing and pushing play again does nothing, and stopping and pushing play again does nothing. If I skip ahead several minutes, nothing happens until I click pause, then click play again and it jumps to that frame, but still sits there doing nothing. I tried redownloading the videos, thinking the downloads just screwed up, but still the same thing.

I tried them in the K-Lite Codec Pack version of MPC-HC as well, and all 4 of the videos play, but they play at about half speed video while the audio continues normally then starts cutting out after it gets 10 seconds ahead or so. All of them play in VLC, but again they play like a slideshow, although the audio seems to work. I tried them WMP as well and they play great... for about 30 seconds, before the frame rate drops and the sound cuts out.

While searching around for something to do, I looked at the "properties" of the videos and noticed some differences.

This is the video that played fine:

I have bolded what I noticed as significant differences between the videos, but I have very very little understanding of these things so maybe I'm missing the mark entirely. These videos have been giving me headaches the past few days trying to find things to make them work as the site I get them from seems to be the only one where I can reliably find them, so I don't have alternatives to download in different formats.

Can anyone explain what I'm looking at here and what I need to do to bring the other 3 videos in line with the first?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, even if it's just pointing me towards another (preferably very "lite" player) as I would like to get this sorted so I can follow the videos for the rest of the year.

Probably the 3 problematic files were muxed incorrectly.

You should try remuxing them with ffmpeg OR ffmbc.
