    Hello,

I currently am looking for the "best" settings in VideoReDo to maximize quality for the space it takes up on my drive. I am ok with a bit of artifacts but would like to minimize the real obvious ones. A large chunk of what I am converting is from Tivo or my HD PVR and is automotive racing. I am trying to get down to about 1.8 - 2 gigs per hour in 720p. You can see the two examples from one video below. The first is of a straightaway with little fast movement and it is clear while the corner shot shows the artifacts. I am saving the file as a Matroska h.264, 1280 X 720. Image below.

Any advice on settings to cut down on the artifacts would greatly be appreciated!

I am not tied to VideoReDo but it is the only program that edits my files for some reason. I was going to download a copy of Sony Vegas Pro to see if that would edit the files. There is something about the initial frame not being set on my hd pvr that makes it not want to be edited?? I am not opposed to spending cash but don't need all the frills of a super program is I don't have to pay for it. VideoReDo has the nice ad-detect feature which is great!

what are you referring to as artifacts ?

the blurring of the car in bottom left foreground ?

what do the frames before and after this one look like ?

  3. Your dialog shows you're using MPEG 2 not h.264.

Yes the bluring, on most action sections it gets very blurry. Maybe artifacts was a poor choice or words, I am trying to maximize the quality of the film in the fast sections. All the faster sections look like this. One frame before is blurry too. I am happy to post more pictures if you like. I appreciate any help. Thanks!

Isn't the source blurry in those same areas? It looks like normal motion blur to me.

    you cannot remove motion blur
with sophisticated enough software , you could try to replace the car with another image of the same car lifted from another frame
    but why?
that image is only on the screen for x number of frames
that camera is not moving to follow the car,
