Having only nominal experience in /new-tech/, such as HDTV / HDMI etc., I present the following query:
If my Lenovo product has OEM HDMI (whether it is IN or OUT/ whether HDMI is always IN or OUT [eg. dual purpose, globally per the tech]), and the Motorola DVR also has HDMI (and SPDIF, SATA, Ethernet, and just about any other digital tech connectivity interface i've ever seen, including Optical and Coaxial, blah, blah), my concern is as follows:
Consider i purchase the [rather costly] HDMI cable [20 - 50 ft, perhaps less, requisite length for accomodating a connection between the two devices], what is this going to enable me to do?
Eg. Scenario:
1.) Using the Motorola DVR, I play title XYZ, in real time.
2.) Let us presume a connection is established between the DVR (Motorola), and the PC (Lenovo K330-B), via HDMI
3.) Is the Lenovo HDMI going to /receive/ the data?
It is unfortunate, the included documentation (Lenovo) does NOT indicate the purpose/ proposed-use for the HDMI capablility.
Had I thousands of dollars with which to experiment; return equipment, should it not facilitate my desired result, I would not seek advisory. It is unfortunate, however, I must be quite frugal and educated in such endeavors. Thus, your advisory will be appreciated. Condescending Attitude/ the rhetoric of subjugation, i don't need. Extrapolate.

¡Wow!
I'm truly shocked this query has stumped the likes of ye self-proclaimed VideoHelp folk. Furthermore, I find it unlikely such a solution has not already been proposed, per similiar queries-- considering the age of HDMI / DVR / etc.
Alas, no human, or commune is perfect. the latter, certainly not.
Perhaps the question is ubiquitous, yet, without a proper, or singular resolve.
I regret, I did not expect to be disappointed by such alleged authority as this. But, time does tic-toc away. I suspect there are more knowledgable resources available for these more current technologies. Thought I'd give the old-school crew a go at it, but-- again-- wow! I'm surprised.
Be well. Shall I provide the answer, once its resolved, that this community might be better educated?Expand your intellect: Search your favourite PC / Web Dev/ Linux / tech-terms at NoviceNotes™ -

As I stated in the primary post, this thread: “Condescending attitude… subjugation, i don't need,” for it is a veritably ubiquitous; pandemic affectation; useless-- if not harmful (Eg. English as second-language participants)-- in each instance of such a quip. Yet, here-- despite a pointed effort to avert such rhetoric, we have what is likely the very definition of such, as follows:
[QUOTE=hech54;2234245] ???
I struggle to find value in the respondent’s text (as quoted). Had s/he withheld her/his virtually useless participation, much effort-- global to the community-- would need not have been expended. Regardless, what follows is [this user’s] convoluted attempt to work-it-out:
I realize there are several so-called guides referenced here, yet this advisory is confounding, within its context. (Eg. Must the rhetoric of such a guide read as a screenplay?). Nothing is provided as a means of reference.
A more specific instruction-- at least-- would be appreciated. (Eg. Begin at URL _____ to review the most exemplary Guides; a proper guide should always include the primary elements of X, Y, and [optional] Z.)
It is unfortunate, this activity of authoring off-topic text, in effort to placate rude; ignorant quips, such as the quote above are a waste of time, yet-- in nearly 10 years of membership, here-- i find, not all users behaviour is as hech54, yet those whom insist upon this sort of sophomoric interaction; adolescent-like grasp on his or her flippant mannerisms are certainly pervasive enough that the reader might reflect upon his or her experience, likewise encouraged to so much useless banter; wasted time.
Clearly, the virtue of cordiality in communique is rather disregarded; to foster a friendly environment in this community is of little concern to such Users as those who disregard community education in favour of private satisfaction. Such flippant mannerisms manifest as a waste of space; the ambiguity of wasted text only wears upon the readers, and a mockery is made of every participant engaged.
This is neither a model of good forum/ community citizenship, nor the sort of banter which facilitates an educational discourse. At best, the authoring of this thread became a vessel for attack; insult. I find it uninviting, unnerving, useless, disheartening, and-- above all-- a reminder: threaded forums (Eg. vBulletin; phpBB; etc.) are a means of communication / dissemination which grows ever more archaic.Expand your intellect: Search your favourite PC / Web Dev/ Linux / tech-terms at NoviceNotes™ -
Trying to decipher your question(s) again...I'll try to rephrase it for you..."Is the HDMI port on my Lenovo computer an input or output?" My answer to that question is: Most computers have a HDMI port that produces output only. You probably can look up the specs of your computer to answer that for sure.
