    Hey everyone,

I really need help with something and I didn't know where else to turn to so let me preface this by saying forgive me if this question has been asked and answered many times before.

I'm putting together a video of my trip to Japan and I wanted to try and see if I could fix some files that got damaged/corrupted. I'm not quite sure when they got corrupted but my best guess is that someone closed my laptop while I was importing the files.

    A few things I've tried:
I've downloaded Treasured . For the most part the files I'm trying to save have a rating of 85-95%. I'm able to preview the frames. I'm going to wait and see how the previews turn up when I receive them but I know this service might be costly so I want to see if there are other alternatives

I tried using a hex editor to edit it myself. I tried copying and pasting a heading & footer from a good video to a corrupted one but that did no good. I'm new to that so I was guessing what to do there so its something I don't mind revisiting if theres any more in depth advice I can get.

Finally I've also tried using Video-Repair Tool. Initially it wouldn't output repaired video clips but when I checked the "Enable AVC1 single mode" option it would output a video that contained the audio but the video looked as it appears in the screenshot I've attached.

I should also note I'm trying to repair these on a Macbook Pro so I can't run any windows program (although I will consider finding a windows computer to try a program that is greatly recommended)

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance

you weren't stupid enough to delete the files off the cam before previewing them were you? there isn't any way to reliably fix corrupted video files, there is no extra repair data in the file.

you can post a link to a bad file you have uploaded to a file sharing site and let the boys have at it, but don't expect miracles they just don't happen.

I had the damn delete after import setting on so to answer you, yeah I guess I must've been stupid enough. But this happened a long time ago and I've since learned from that.

I'm not expecting any miracles, I just wanted to revisit the possibility of fixing these files before I completed my compilation video. I already managed to fix one in the video-repair tool by checking the settings "No CTTS Repair" and "Enable AVC1 Single Mode"

    I've uploaded a corrupt file here: http://www.mediafire.com/?77kjvj895tcpbi4
    Here's a good one for reference: http://www.mediafire.com/?oprcrbi6j5ben3l

I think the Flip still keeps a second backup copy. Use the Flip software from the camera.

I've checked for that so I don't think it works. Plus the videos are over a year old, I don't think it would hold the information that long

    Hi ant0n33x,

You did also tried with MP4repair.org? I just tested the corrupted file and guys from Aero Quartet sent me a preview. Looks like they're able to repair them. Best of luck!

    Hey FireRouter,

Yeah I checked out mp4repair.org. I figured that would be my last resort and I guess I will have to cough up the dough for it. Thanks!

When you install the Flip software from the camera onto the computer, THAT's where it makes a second hard-to-delete backup. I used to have a Flip, and I remember. Maybe you can roll back your computer temporarily.

  9. I have very similar corruption to the sample shown. It only happens if I edit or join Flip Mino HD videos using MPEG Streamclip. HOWEVER - the videos still play OK in VLC. I haven't yet found a full solution though.
