    Dear all,

What is the first step for creating a new subtitle for a video.

I know that by entering the subtitles on Premiere Pro is not going to be a good choice because it will be burnt-in.

To create the subtitle, I can write on the notepad and save as .srt (where will the timecode be written at) , if not, what other choice will I have as to start a new subtitle? Hope to get more information tho. The fastest and better way to get it done.

Is it a better choice to convert the subtitle of .srt to .IFO?

    Appreciate for the help tho.

After some research online here, Subtitle Edit seem to be a good tool for creating new subs.

What is the next step after creating it? I would like to embed on the DVD, which I can call it in when required.

Read Baldrick's guide and use his Method 2:

    Thank you so much.

This is something I am looking at. But what if my format is either .mov or .avi?

The video does not have .IFO at all because it is not from DVD.

update: I managed to find new subs.
But, how do I play the video together in order to check the subs is in the correct position?

  5. You gave the impression you already had the DVD. If not, make a DVD and use the subs you made. Perhaps try AVSTo DVD to make the DVD and add in the subtitles. Here's Baldrick's basic guide:

My bad for giving wrong impression.

So the alternatively way is to made into a DVD, while doing the subs on the sub creator.
I just downloaded the program, I am able to create subs, but how do I watch / play the video while doing subs? I try dragging the .avi, it is not working at all. I require .VOB to drop in the program?

Then, use the program (Pgcdemux) to author them?

I saw that ... On AVSTODVD, I can also import the subtitles as well for burning.

Also, after authoring it (either using Pgcdemux or AVSTODVD), the subs is not going to be burn in subtitles? I am able to call out or off the subs while playing back on DVD?

    Pls advise.

The easiest way I have found to view subtitles is to install directvobsub and play with Media Player with the subtitles and the video in the same folder with the same name. e.g. Video.AVI & video.SSA . Media Player is not my first choice to use as a player but it works well with DirectVobSub without any special turning on or off of any settings and it plays ALL the functionality of subtitles such as SSA and ASS.

Ah... DirectVOBsub... how can I forget that... I used to work on that, and i totally love it... somehow..

If I am not mistaken, you mean by playing back via DirectVOBsub while the subs are in the same folder as the video.
The subs are saved as .SSA using Sub Station Alpha.

How about the authoring stage for DVD?
Muxing the video in .VOB, audio in... (i have not done that yet tho.. aint sure what format it will be later on) and subtitles in .SSA

This seem be the fastest and easiest way to do it. All I need is to get the .mov to .vob on DVD, then decrypt out.
