Pretty stupid question. You are not starting out making friends.

Yes, since 1992
The forum contains a lot of information in the way of posts and applications related to 3D ... Thou the issue is complicated due to manufacturers and their devices and what is or not supported.
Questions should reference devices in use, or software before asking for help. -
Hey, aren't we at the VHSHELP.com site?
Some are into 3D, like myself, and some are not. Videohelp is a bigger world than just one or the other.
What was your real question? Or was that it?

I know Scott is into 3D and I respect that but I am of the opinion that 3D as a consumer thing is dead or dying. All the hype now is 4k and ultra high definition. I know it's fun to play around a little in 3D, why I even have done some myself with my Sony point and shoot, but it is a hassle trying to find where I put my special 3D glasses and it's a real bear to try to edit that stuff.

Haters are always gonna hate 3D. And we've all heard the old "I hate 3D therefore EVERYONE else on the planet does too" argument. Of course that is not a direct quote from TreeTops' post but a summary in my words of his point.
4K and Ultra HD are DOA. NOBODY wants them except a few "more money than they know what to do with" types. Consumers will absolutely not accept these for many many years to come.
As always the marketplace will decide. 3D is not the answer for every movie but it is the answer for some. Disney, who in the past has always rejected 3D or barely gotten into it at all (in the 1950s they made exactly two cartoons in 3D) is using it great guns now. They have found that the marketplace for 3D conversions of OLD animated films is iffy (The Lion King was a huge success, the Beauty And The Beast 3D box office was very disappointing) but it remains a key part of the new animated film offerings as it does with Dreamworks Animation. 3D is here to stay for sure with animated films. My local cineplex is showing 14 different movies right now and 3 are in 3D. That's a supportable level of the technology. Again, it's not for everything, but for some films it is a very workable solution. And in the past 3D has always died by now. -
currently people seem to be willing to go the extra mile for well made 3d movies. if slimeball low budget producers start pumping out 3d garbage, things could change if folks feel ripped off a couple times at the theater.

Good comments Jman. I'm not a hater of 3D and in fact I like it. Just saying it's not going to fly with the general public. But time will tell if I'm going to be correct.

That's just it, TreeTops: the HYPE for 3D is dead/dying. Now the medium can begin to mature. Hype for UHD/4k is ironic, as, unlike 3D, there is not yet an end-to-end system change. UHD/4k as currently promoted by manufacturers is only for Direct Display (not even projection), so there's currently NO consumer* UHD/4k content to show on it. In fact, the ONLY consumer content that will be immediately and visibly improved** would be 3D content. (Notice that EVERY 4kTV is also 3D-capable).
I don't worry about "where did I put my 3D glasses", because at last count I had ~39 pairs (probably is more like 52 pairs now).
And yes, I find it more challenging to stereograde & composite 3d material, though the editing is nearly equivalent to 2D work. I don't mind the challenge - new hoizons and all that.
Time will tell about people's perceptions of 3D, but as jman98 mentioned, the "Golden Age of 3D" only lasted ~2 1/2 years. This Modern Age of 3D has eclipsed that era almost 100-fold in terms of Box Office profit, BD3D Sales provides for profitable long-tail sellthrough, and the longevity is already more than double, with no end in sight.

Because of 3D, UHD/4k will be worth watchable and future of the world cinema will only survive with 3D. Go and watch G.I.Joe retaliation in 3D and confirm why 3D is so essential.

I think you might have lost something in the translation there, addu, because what came out in English doesn't make much sense...
Scott -
ditto on the 3d glasses, had like 100 plus pairs of them and then gave most of them out to anyone who said to me "love to see your stuff but I don't have any 3d glasses".
JimboS,
if you do a quick search you will see a ton of postings relating to all forms of 3d on these forums- -
Thankyou scott for correction. Now my next mode is to make all of the 2d's into perfect 3d's.
