  1. I have d/loaded Harry Potter divx, its a 2 file set and has ac3 sound. I want to convert this to dvdr with the ac3 digital sound available.

I have tried to extract the sound to wav using vdub but it doesn't want to do it.

TMPEG doesn't want to convert it either.

Any help would be really appreciated.

    cheers

  2. Wait 6 weeks until the legal DVD comes out and buy that.

  3. it's also a waste of time converting the DivX to DVD. If you want to get a file that looks great and is already DVD compatible, you might as well just get the SVCD, it's released for a reason.

  4. will the divx version not be better than the svcd version??

(lets not start a big debate on this)

if the difference will be minimal, then i will go for the svcd version as i think its easier to convert to dvdr.

What about AC3 sound? is this possible to extract from the divx and use on dvd?

  5. IMO (and many other people) the SVCD looks better than DivX, especially if you re-encoded the DivX to SVCD or something. Basically SVCD is a lower bitrate DVD (2.5Mbps VBR instead of 9.8 Mbps VBR). The ONLY advantage to DivX is it's smaller filesize. (you could also say that the "only" advantage to SVCD is it's ability to play on standalones, but many people feel that they look way better too, though it's in the eye of the beholder.)
