Is this backup a single "image" file or just a collection of a large number of separate files?

Single image using Seagate's version of Acronis. I thought copying the file would obviate fragmentation, but it seems not. I delete the older image first.
BTW, it's a WD drive, and IIRC, it was sold as suitable for A/V, on 24/7.Pull! Bang! Darn!
