Hi everybody,
I need to convert avi, fullHD, 80 minutes long with 5489 kbps bitrate to DCP . Can I make it on laptop with external HDD and how much space I need for this? Which is the most easy way to do it?

DVD-o-matic
You can set the bitrate of the DCP from 50 to 250 MB/s so math will tell you the space requirements. Add more for audio file.
I only played around with this a little and it seems to convert from the avi (or whatever) directly to jpeg2000 frames within the MXF container. You might want to run a small video file through it to see if it caches the jpeg2000 frames somewhere while it's working. If that's the case you may have to double the size requirement. -
Thank you for the answer.
Does anyone know if this projector sony SRX-R32 works with other format than .dcp?Freethinkers Are Dangerous ! -
Hi all,
I'm the author of DVD-o-matic. Hope it is working for you!
As Khaver says, it writes JPEG2000 frames straight into an MXF container, so it should only need the amount of disk space required for the DCP. If you go to Film->Properties there is an estimate of how much space will be required. It depends on the selected JPEG200 bit-rate.
You're probably going to be looking in the 100-120Gb region for 80 minutes.
Do let me know if you have any problems.
Regards
Carl
