Looks like the members at myce have found a way to circumvent Cinavia protection. I haven't tried it so I don't know if it works or not. For anyone interested you may want to download the app ASAP before they get a take down notice.

I notice that the DVDRanger's CinEx software (which was supposed to have come out last October) was delayed again, this time, according to them, they lost a suit from Sony. Which is total BS, because Sony has no basis for being a litigant - they aren't the owners of Cinavia (Verance), nor the sole/main force behind AACS (AACS LA).

I ran it through IDA but I'm not good enough at programming to tell much. Look like it needs an internet connection though.
-
Too bad they didn't give a link to download it in their software forum, I was hoping for a good laugh.
-
I didn't run the exe because I have no way to test the output since my Seiki BR player and PS3 (old firmware) don't detect it but I did look at the file in a hex editor and there are text messages within the program that sound real.
There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway. -

FWIW, I ran it by Avast, and no red flags there. (You could always run it in a sandbox, if you had any concerns.) There are net tools with which you could see if it was trying to "phone home."
Efficacy is another matter, but I'm sure we will be hearing about that soon enough, one way or the other. When in Las Vegas, don't miss the Pinball Hall of Fame Museum http://www.pinballmuseum.org/ -- with over 150 tables from 6+ decades of this quintessentially American art form. -
I assume everyone noticed that "Xifaivanic" is just "Cinaviafix" spelled backwards. Boy that was hard to think up.

This will be interesting to see where this goes......
And to say the "members at Myce" have found a way to "circumvent" or "remove" Cinavia protection is a little bit of an over statement or more credit than what is deserved or actually happened.
A small team of Myce experts and staff built a joint effort to analyse two files containing the same video clip but with one of them being processed by the DVD Ranger Cinavia module to remove this protection while the other file still was protected.
After spending several hours of time and extensive analysis of the two files, the team eventually managed to figure out how the Cinavia protection was actually broken. One of the team members even managed to improve the original method to have a slightly better audio quality on the unprotected file.
Whilst DVD Ranger has allegedly been forced to cease development due legal action, the Myce development team already has a fully working solution.
Like I said, it will be interesting to see where this goes, if in fact it is real considering the date this information was "released".
Now I kind of wish I had something that enforced Cinavia so I could test it!!
I remember posting in another thread about this, and like I said there, when I can actually test it out and see for myself something works, I will then be a true believer!! -
Well, I still have that Samsung player that enforces it. It was removed from the chain where it was, and I was going to give it to a relative, though that can wait. But I'm not going to hook it up again real soon, since I have a lot of more important things to deal with right now.

As most of you have guessed this was a April Fool's joke that MyCE setup. It was actually pretty elaborate. They actually wrote a small program that made it look like it was actually working. As the program was running it even created a dummy file in the output folder to make it look like it was working. After the process was completed a message window popped up saying that you were successful. Then when you clicked OK a message pops up saying that it's an April Fool's joke and ask that you help them keep the joke going. A web browser window also pops up showing the definition of April Fool's on the Wikipedia web site. At the same time the dummy file created is deleted. When I first saw this I knew it had to be a joke considering the timing, but I wanted to see what it was about so I played along and ran the program. When I saw how elaborate the joke was I made a post here so that more people could check out this joke, but tried to make it look like it was real. Thanks to everyone you kept the joke alive by not revealing the secret!!! It's just too bad it wasn't a actually working program!
