I extracted a subtitle file with SUP format. It is not text-based but image-based.
You can get the file here:
https://www.box.com/s/kfi1xj6hfs8g5cz8cr2m
It was used for a TV programme captured. But there are some advertisement between sections of the programme. So I cut out the advertisement from the video. When I want to synchronize the subtitle with the modified video, I found it not simple. I can make +/- delay for all lines of the whole subtitle file easily. But now I need to use different delays for different parts of the subtitle file. I always used SubtitleCreator but its synchronize function seems to allow only changes to all lines, not part of the lines even if I checked the boxes of only some of the lines.
I tried other software (e.g. Subtitle Edit) and it can easily modify the time for different parts of lines in batch. But those software seem to be not supporting image-based subtitle.
I might get the job done by separating the subtitle fie into several files. Then load them one by one into SubtitleCreator and make different delays. First, it is rather clumsy to select many lines inside SubtitleCreator and do the deletion. Second, I don't know how to use SubtitleCreator to join several subtitles.
Is there any easy way to solve my problem?![]()

The modified video can be seen here:

(This is a video that cannot be searched.) -
Sorry that the modified video was blocked by YouTube. But I think it is not important to see the video.
To further elaborate my problem, here are parts of my targets for the subtitle:
Line No.1
Show: 00:00:04,672
"This is a test of your attention."
For line no.1 to 248, need to add 8 seconds.
So show time for line no.1 will change to 00:00:12.672.
Line No.249
Show: 00:16:49,236
"Meet sleight-of-hand expert, Apollo Robbins."
For line no.249 to 525, need to minus 3 minutes.
So the show time for line no.249 will change to 00:13:49,236. -
If you can find a way of ending up with text-based subtitles, you can use text-based tools like Aegisub which offer easy bulk or individual time shifts. It's been a while since I last worked with SUP, but I trust you could either re-extract from source, or convert from SUP to text.
Cheers,

Thanks to advice from fvisagie but I tried to OCR my subtitle files but it did not work. After all, I solved problem. See the solution in another thread: https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/352182-Need-to-find-a-DVD-sup-file-editor-%28to-fix...ming-issues%29
