I have a large mpg that is the proper format for a vcd but it is to big.
I've edited it into seperate clips toaling about 700 mb. I've done this twice. Once with My Flix and with TNPGEnc. In Ulead Video Studio 5 I added effects like fade and dissolve between the clips. Then when I click on Make A Movie it starts the encoding process. Usually when I have a MPG in the correct format this does not take very long. But with this video that I edited after 6 hours the encoding was only at 10%. What have I done wrong. Did editing it make the format way off ?
Are there other programs I could use to cut and add effects to the video?
Thanks for any help

BMzx,
There is a mismatch somewhere between your input file and the output file that's being rendered. If frame size, frame rate, file type, data kbps, audio kbps are all identical then rendering time should be just a matter of minutes and the program would only render the changes.
I'm not understanding these statements......."I've edited it into seperate clips totaling about 700 mb. I've done this twice. Once with My Flix and with TNPGEnc."....... Do you mean you've cut the original captured clip in half with both of these programs to produce two separate mpeg files of about 700 mb each? At least that's what I think your saying, you did'nt actually edit something, you just cut the original clip in half?
If you right click your input file in VideoStudio then go to properties it will display all the information regarding the file format, video and audio specifications, just simply make sure when you make your movie all of these settings match or yes it will render the whole project from the begining. You can also simply have VideoStudio use "template from exiting file" in which it automatically sets your working project to the exact settings as your input file.

Gary,
Thanks for answering me.
This is what I meant by editing. I have two VCD ready MPGs. one is about 600 mb and the other about 300 mb. I cut parts out of them which left me with about 700 mb of smaller videos. I cut the first with TMPGEnc and had the encoding problem with my final video so I did it all over again with MyFlix and same thing ?

BMzx,
I don't use the other two programs you mentioned but I think if you did all your editing work with VideoStudio making sure the project/editing template and final make movie settings are identical to the source mpegs you won't have an encoding problem.
Hope this helps,
Good Luck.
