  1. Hello,

I am recording .ts files (about 80 per week) from DVB-T (only standard definition 720x576 pixels) and I need command line utility for fixing (or partial reencoding) GOP size these videos before DVD authoring.
I am using "Womble Mpeg Video Wizard DVD" which has got "MPEG gop fixer", but I need the same process run automatically after ending recording from television.

Is it possiblle to run Womble MPEG GOP Fixer from command line? Or can be done this with command line utility FFMpeg and which parameters have to be defined for PAL video?

What is the GOP you are getting? What are you fixing it to?

The reason I am asking is that I have seen some consumer grade DVD authoring programs that enforce stricter GOP limits than the DVD standard calls for. In fact, the whole reason I taught myself years ago to use Scenarist to author DVDs was because the program I was using to author DVDs was enforcing a limit lower than the standards called for and I had stubborn laserdisc capture where no matter what I did, it always had a GOP 1 frame larger than my recording software was set for in one specific place and absolutely nothing I did (not even re-capturing it) could get that one section back down. Scenarist authored the DVD fine even with the GOP having 1 additional frame in it in that one place as it was still within NTSC specs.

Sorry, I don't know if it's possible to run the GOP Fixer from the command line.

Is it really that big of a problem?
In my experience the DVD players i have used had no problems with non standard/long GOP sizes?
I just ignore the warning from my DVD authoring program (TMPGEnc DVD Author) and author/burn it as is.
Example from a PAL BBC1 DVB-C recording from my dutch cable:

Yes, I know about it ("Womble Mpeg Video Wizard" allows ignore GOP size too), but I never don't know on which DVD players will be my created DVD discs runned and I need 100% certainty these discs will play without problems.
