    hi all,
    i'm completely dumb here.
i have photoshop and VLC player installed in my PC, and i'm going well with that (i mean no problem between each other).
until last month i downloaded movie part file from Mediafire.
usually nothing is wrong with that. after all parts is finished, then i'll just play the first part using my VLC player then automatically the player reads all.

but now i think something is wrong.
i often use both programs, and my photoshop file's icon is symbolized VLC logo (i think it's because VLC reads both extention .psd and. avi or vice versa).
now if i download movie, all the file extention is .psd (1 part is around 100MB)
i really don't think those are photoshop file.
if i play with my VLC player (which i used to be), now it can only reads the first part eventhough i have downloaded all parts.

i tried several ways, like changing the extention from ".psd" to ".avi.001" and start joining using Hjsplit but none of them are working. so did Total Video Converter.
the only way i have not try yet is re-installing the program.
but i do think there is reasonable answer from you guys, the Guru out there, about this matter.

    thanks!

    There is a reasonable answer.

Buy the movie. This site does not exist to support warez downloads.

Do a full malware scan. That kind of smells like a virus to me. I wouldn't touch those file sharing sites.

    yap, you are right!
    buy the movie.

trust me, i have enough money to buy a dozen.

do you think that is really the only solution for my question?
i believe that's also the ultimate answer on half questions on this forum for people who ask about video converting and bla bla bla.

Well believe that if you may. Yet the majority will mention that they convert from a dvd. And the benefit of the doubt is given that they actually own it rather than rent it.

The forum's rules - you should read them sometime - expressly forbid the dealing with warez (non-paid for downloads etc.) and I also believe they were recently ammended to deal with rentals.

But, ultimately, if you think you have a valid file (even tho PSD is not a valid video extension AFAIK), and not some fake or virus, then the person you should be asking is the uploader from where you obtained this.

    I'm sure that .avi.001 isn't a valid video file-extension either.

As part of an hjsplit archive it is valid.

If the OP wants to risk it, he can rename all the files as [remove the numeric][text].[a valid video extension].[the removed numeric]

So the first file becomes {my warez file name}.avi.01
the second becomes {my warez file name}.avi.02

    etc
    etc

And that is much more assistance than the topic deserves.

    Prepare now to be infected.

The idea that PSD doesn't reach =>100MB size is also ludicrous. (I was working on a bunch of multi-layer posters last week - many were over 300MB).

But this smacks of "getting virus while messing around with warez". 'Nuff said.
