Looking at HD camcorders and reviews there's seems to be a gripe that Canon doesn't have a 60p mode. From what I've read 60p isn't hard to do in terms of recording but playback is pretty limited in terms of a Blu Ray player or even on a PC software player. With the obvious answer to the this question being..."because it has more framerate"...what other answer could you give to what is the major difference in 60p and 24p? Is there or would there be an instance where you wouldn't buy a 24p camera over a 60p because of this feature? Is it a novelty feature?

also, besides the camera, what plays back 60p video files?

i think the question should be why would anyone want a 24p camera. to look old-fashioned? slide showish? even modern major motion picture directors have started to move away from it. the hobbit movies(all 3) are shot at 48p and cameron is going to shoot the next 2 avatar movies at 48fps.

720p60 is often used by major tv networks for sports. no reason not to move everything to 1080p60 other than some tvs will need replacing. 4k is coming.... someday
