i seem to read stuff a lot more if its on my ipad
so, it made me think, how ( if its possible) would i go about going to a webpage..for example IGN.. on one of their walkthroughs, transfering that from an internet page to a single pdf file i can add to my ipad, read in the car, camping etc
i dont have a sim card for the ipad, i prefer to have the files on the hard drive than go online. especially where i go there is no phone coverage anyway.
sorry if i didnt explain it very well.. just something i thought of tonight
    cheers

there are webpage to pdf apps for the ipad but none that i know of can do all the pages of a guide as a single pdf. the ipad is about the most limited device on the planet and there are very few ways to get stuff into their flash storage memory. they don't have hard drives.

not sure why you say they are limited
i have loads of stuff on mine from movies to music to games to guides
is there no way to turn say a long walkthrough , on pc, into a single pdf file that i can read later on my ipad?

Yeah - I haven't tried to use an iPad/iPod/iPhone in a long time, but I believe there are usually ways to treat them as removable hard drives.

angryassdrummer - Which browser are you using (on your computer)? There may be addons or extensions to allow you to save something as a PDF. (Mac apps should be able to do it natively, I believe.) Also, there are 'printer drivers' that allow you to 'print' something to a PDF file.

mostly they are limited to what itunes will let you sync. no usb transfer or sd card slot. if you download and convert the walkthrough on your pc then put the pdf in your itunes folder and see if it will transfer. if not try emailing it to yourself and opening it on the ipad.

oh yeah, im used to converting music/movies etc to what ipad format i need BUT my question is how to turn...for example.. a website like IGN, Gamespot etc..something on there such as a video game walkthrough,... ( for the purpose of this say GTA IV).. take that walkthrough, convert it on pc ( or my partners macbook pro) into a pdf which i can then load into itunes and sync into ibooks. once its a PDF its a breeze.... i just have NO idea how to go about doing the conversion from webpage to a single pdf file or if it is possible at all.
I use Google chrome mostly but also use Firefox to download streaming video off the net to put on my ipad.

  7. Google "download website" and you will find lots of options that don't work as well as you would like. Google "html to pdf" and you will get more of the same (Or you can use acrobat). If you're trying to make a week-long project out of this, enjoy yourself and let us know how it comes out. If you just want to be able to watch the videos on your ipad, download them and put them on your ipad. That'll be 2 cents please.

i don't know about all sites but at gamefaqs there is usually a link to download the guide as a file. right click on it - save as. after i had what is some type of text file i'd use adobe acrobat to convert to pdf, if you don't have acrobat there are other programs that do the same.

    ^^^^ thanks for that link

it was actually rather easy, uncomplicated and didnt take a week at all, took me about 10 min start to finish to turn a 64 page Street Fighter IV guide into one PDF that i have to read on my ipad now
i used Firefox, a plug in called web2pdf
    works a treat

  10. Does this include the video walkthroughs, or did I misunderstand the original request? In either case, well done.

a walkthrough is normally a detailed step by step written guide. i didn't see anything mentioned about video guides, but they would require downloading them and putting in the itunes folder or converting to ipad video and then syncing.
