  1. i have seen a ton of regualr mpeg programs out there that will fix the header info for a regular mpeg. Does anybody know of any that will fix the header info for an mpeg 2 file (variable rate)?
Tmpg syas its an illegal stream so i can do any remux/edititing with it. I just re-encded it now in tmpg and the damn thing cuts off at 40mins (40mins now ends during the middle of the film rather at the end of the film like moy original clip)
even if their is something i can do with a hex editor would be fine thanks--

Which header information do you want to change? Did you analyze the MPEG allreaddy? Did you figure out why TMPG says "illegal stream"? I ask this because you seem to have a major problem, that is not to solve by changing some header informations.

  4. the file loads up and plays fine in windows media player
. I know that the dazzle 2 does not make correct header info as Spruceup lets me know their is fatal errors in the header info when i try to input the clip (other clips not this one)-so thats why i use tmpg to de/re the clip with the proper mpeg 2 variable header and spruceup accpets the file fine then.
So to save a step i captured but had the audio and video go into two seperate files and this is where my problem is. I know its something with the header info. I did find one program but it is for mac only (mpeg stream guillotine), If you can help me in any way it would be greatly aprreciated

Searching for "Ulead" in WinMX software I found something I was not looking for and downloaded it... it is called MPEG Corrector... I liked the name... hehehe...

I do not know if it can fix MPEG2 header, but I can send it to your e-mail if you want to try... so, If it works, you will have "teached" me something I, someday, will need...

I am at work now and dont know the size, but its a fell MBs... no more than 5, I think...

The problem seems to be the movie star software.

It seems, that version 4.23 does not write a system header. You may update to 4.24.

Also check out the offeryn tools and DVD Patcher. But I guess your problem is the missed system header.
    Hope it helps.

  8. thanks truman,
But it seem,s dazzle hasnt fixed the problem since 4.23 as the version i have is 4.24. I was on the phone with them and naturally on hold for 15mins so i hung up. i want them to be aware of the problem asit just creates a waste of time--

Too bad, did you try dvc2spruce ? I do not have a dazzle card, so I can not test it.

  10. yeah i did try dvc2spruce, but dvc2spruce will only take full mpeg files not just the video part (m2v). I also played with dvdpatcher but no dice their. I had to re-encode the file, but their seems to be some horrible limitation in tmpg (whic will be my next post in "advanced conversion" forum--
