As many people do I have many hdd's that are always being updated and need backed up.
I have been using a program called 'Karen's Replicator' for years. A free program program I got here http://www.karenware.com/
It really works great (for the most part).
On my home theater computer I have thousands of .nfo files for tv shows and movies. These are generally small files like 2k.
For some reason her software has an issue with these... it claims to sync everything fine but all the nfo's it does are empty files on the target end (0kb). I've been having this issue with this for awhile but just got around it by doing things manually.
Well, I don't want to deal with that hassle anymore. Looking for a recommendation on a good reliable replication software. I don't care if its free or pay I just want it to work.
Thanks for any advice.

You can get Microsoft's SyncToy for free.

Synchback is another good option, though the paid version is definitely better than the free one. I've also used SyncToy for years but have issues with it from time to time. It will periodically want to sync a massive amount of files that have not changed in any way.

PoppaMeth, isn't is spelled syncback? If it is, I also recommend that program.

I downloaded FreeFileSync from SourceForge.

I chose the portable install and didn't see any reference OpenCandy.Last edited by jagabo; 26th Mar 2013 at 09:59.

That's not the install dialog I got. I got the licence agreement, and this install dialog:
After that was just the "copying files dialog" and "complete" dialog.
I see what's going on: the computer I installed on blocked access to the site from which the installer gets the adware/malware (it's downloaded during the install). I verified this by running the install on an unprotected VM. With the internet connection live I got an additional dialog to install Yahoo Toolbar. With the internet connection disabled I got no other dialogs. A recommendation for others: disable your internet connection before installing.Last edited by jagabo; 26th Mar 2013 at 11:41.

Yes it's SyncBack. The h was a typo.

It's not free, and I'm still using an older version, but I've been using SynchronizeIt! for years.
Mainly because it lets you specify which folders to sync, whether to include or exclude certain types of files or subfolders, and the whole synchronisation setup can be saved as a "project". So you can syncronize one set of folders to one drive, another set to another drive, or even synchronise various folders between computers according to the saved project you're using.
And it shows you exactly which files are going to be copied or over-written and the direction they'll be synced in, while allowing you to change it on an individual file basis before the synchronization job actually runs.

I've been testing Synchredible for 3 months (free version and paid pro available). Liking it a lot. Annoying nag startup screen, other than that, perfect.
