I capture videos from my svhs-cam via pc-card (haupauge) with divx with the 576x432 resolution for PAL. The results are OK.
Now I would like to create SVCD from my DIVX-videos.
I am a little confused about the svcd-resolution for PAL (480x576) , bacause it isnīt a 4:3 format.
My questions:
1. Whats the reason ?
2. Can I convert my videos (divx 576x432) to SVHS
3. Make it sense to capture in divx with 480x576 resolution (but in this case the divx wouldnīt show the correst video (4:3)
4. What would be the best format to capture my videos

1. the svcd bitrate is too low for any higher resolutions like dvd. it will look okey on your dvd player or software dvd player if you encode with 4:3 aspect ratio, the player will "stretch" the picture to correct aspect ratio.
2.svhs? yes if you have a tvout or copy from your dvdplayer.
3.no, capture in a more lossless codec like mjpeg or huffyuv to acheive better quality.
4.uncompressed or huffyuv.
