  1. I just purchased an Apex 1100 and I am trying to burn some of my home Mini DV movies into SVCD format to watch on the DVD player. I encode using TMPGEnc and KingViper's SVCD template that is found under tools->options. Nero says it is non-compliant, but I tell it to ignore it and burn the MPEG 2 file anyway. I put it in the DVD player and it starts playing, HOWEVER:

    1) The picture is offcenter, and you can see the APEX blue DVD welcome screen on the right edge of the screen???

    2) The audio skips intermittently...it plays for 4 seconds then skips for 2 seconds then plays for 2 seconds and skips for a second, etc. etc.

I really want to be able to watch SVCDS of my Mini DV tapes, so what do you all recommend? By the way, I encoded the same source file to VCD format and burned it using Nero, and it works fine (although the picture quality isn't too great.)

You're talking about MiniDVD. This type of DVD only are playable at PC's and never will at a standalone DVD-player!

  3. What? No I am not talking about a MiniDv. First of all, the Apex 1100W will play MiniDvs, so even if that is what I was burning, it should be able to play them fine. I am burning SVCDs, but they just aren't playing correctly because of the problems I mentioned above. Anyone else? I really am stumped on this one.

    Thanks!
