I'm using SubWorkshop 2.51 but I would like to change and I'm asking you advice for another software.
I am interested in two features:
1 - The counter for words - which is not possible as far as I know in SW 4 -
2 - Different colour just for some lines, which is not possible with srt files at all, as some of you explained to me.
What would you suggest?
thank you in advance.

..that's why I wrote "Different colour just for some lines, which is not possible with srt files at all".
I am just trying to avoid to spend time in looking uselessly for features I need in software I never used before by asking to some of you which knew already which can be good for me for these two things I need.
Thank you anyway for your kind answer.
Not being quite sure what you want but you could try SubtitleEdit.
It'll show you char/sec, no of chars in the individual lines of a subtitle as well as total no of chars.
You change color with a right click on a subtitle (or group of)
And I believe srt supports color with a syntax like
00:00:16,030 --> 00:00:21,030
Then use for example
SubTitleEdit to create subtitles.
As jman98 pointed out Sub Station Alpha is a nice editor (but only for SSA files I think... and a bit old).
Aegisub is, in my opinion, a better tool for advanced effects. Works with ASS files.
Wheather or not the SubRip format supports color really depends on where/what you want to play your video.
Most players on the pc support colors and so do many converters: http://ale5000.altervista.org/subtitles.htm
Subtitle Edit has color support for SubRip files (right click in list view -> color), but only use the feature if your player supports it.
EDIT: LOL, I must be a slow typer... two posts since I started typing

I mean that with SubWorkshop i go in settings, I change the color of the line I want, Saving, Opening again the file... and no change is saved.
Then someone here told me that Srt files doesn't support colors at all.
By the way it seems I need to choose... colors or character count.
Except perhaps for SubEdit, if i well understood the post from videoburger it should be possible with it doing both things..
grrr...i need time to try and I dont have time!
But when I'll find out I'll post it, you are all a big help for me!
