aside from the fact that the 4770k isn't even 10% faster than the 3770k, the top of the line "k" versions in each price segment don't support TSX, but their non unlocked brethren do.
now it might be tempting to blame AMD, due to the fact that they haven't produced a killer cpu in a while, for intel's complacency and them giving us a smidgen more cpu performance in this new processor but let's be honest with ourselves, intel makes their own decisions, AMD doesn't control their director board.
on the bright side i can save a bunch of money by not having a compelling upgrade option, unless i want to spend a bundle and venture into the server market.

I wasn't expecting much. With no competition on computational front Intel is concentrating on power consumption now. They're worried about tablets (Arm), not desktops.
