    I have 1TB storage on my Windows 7 computer, plus a 2 TB external Hard drive. I want to do a complete backup of everything, in case of a failure, onto a new 2 TB hard drive.
    Any advice on software or methods please.

    I was introduced to the paragon backup and recovery software (suggested by others on this website). I'm using the free version. Seems to work ok. I have two computers and two seperate external usb wd drives for both for backing up. I like it.

    You didn't get any backup software with the drive ? I'm guessing it's USB.

    Not got the new Verbatim yet. But it will be in FAT32 so I will want to reformat to NTFS thus wiping out any software on the drive

    Will this copy everything across? The Windows etc from Drive C, and the external 2TB Verbatim all on to the new drive?

    Yes but you have to select "include system files" or some such in the setup of the wizard before starting. Than it will grab everything. I don't know why it isn't selected by default.

    Edit - oh wait you want to copy 2 DRIVES onto one? I don't know if it does that in one shot. I've only used it to copy one drive onto one drive. It might I don't know.

    If I wanted to back up 2 drives on one I'd repartition the target drive and do them separately. That can be done fairly easily in windows using Disc Management. Or whatever they call it. I still have one win7 partition but I'm usually using ubuntu or mint linux.

    I have an external backup drive with 3 partitions for just that. I much prefer to back up system and app software separately from data. This is easier in linux than windows.

    But you're talking about a 1G internal and 2G external onto a 2G external? I think you need a bigger backup drive.

    My daughter has given me a 500 Gig external Hard drive. I'll format that to NTFS.
    My C drive with all the windows stuff on it is only 110 Gig out of 1 TB.
    I'll copy the C drive to the 500 gig. The I drive is all data (music, videos etc) I'll copy that drive to the new external, unless there is a problem with that?

    Nope that is the way most of us do it I do believe.

    You may also want to invest in some dvdrs to backup the music and videos as an extra insurance policy. Don't rely on just one backup method

    Some questions;

    All = Complete HD (MBR include)??
    All = Your profile?
    All = Windows installation + profiles + all folders?

    For all tasks, download HIREN BOOT CD/DVD, run Mini-Windows XP image, select "Backup tools" and run Acronis Backup & Restore.

    Its perfect to make all.

    I've been using Acronis True Image for several years. No problems. If you look around you can sometimes find an earlier version highly discounted and it works the same as the latest versions.
