Okay so its my first post here I don't really know what area this would be best for but anyways here goes.

I work at a university recording and editing lectures for students and giving them for free access to anyone in the world.

My boss wanted to see if there is any editing or computer software that would help us detect when a scene (power point slides) changes by either giving us the time code of the change or even a maker on a timeline.

(typically our lectures are shot Cam A/B; camera A on a professor, camera B on the Presentation/slides where as the final video has both in a picture in picture format with cam A being small and in the left hand corner and Cam B taking up most the frame)

I've done it manually as a side project where it took me about 40 mins to find and label the slides in an excel document for an 1 hour and a half worth of video.
Basically we want to automatic this process of finding where the slides change that way we can just label the slide and time code that way we can provide the student specific jump points of topics so they can go to the part of the video.

Any help or guidance into the right direction would greatly appreciated!

  2. How many scene markers do you anticipate? Some editing programs have a limit. Don't know any that do auto scene markers.

Not sure, when I did it manually there was around 25 slides, though depending on the topic I anticipate anywhere from 15-50.

  4. SpeedGrade in the Adobe cs6 suite will detect scene changes and output an edl. But it's pricey.
