windows xp home sp2, NTFS system. the file was a plain text file aprox 400kb in size.

hi all. another strange mistake i made while attempting to Load a file, by accident i click the Save button. i hate windows apps that have load/save soo close together. anyway. as soon as i realized what i did, i went straight to my prefered undelete utility, "GetDataBack for NTFS" but it is only showing me the file that i saved over but is reading 0 bytes, obviously. but i always thought that dos/windows "masks" file that are being saved over so that in the event you save a zero-size data (ie, saving a text file in notepad, file.txt=138kb now says file.txt=0) that it would still be recoverable. so i'm hoping there is something else i can use, or am i screwed ?

does anyone have a suggestion to try before i decide to proceed and continue using this system to do some work?

    thank you in advanced.

I've rarely had to try to recover deleted files, but the last time I used a free program called Recuva.
