  1. If I find someone to help me create a webpage - with a built-in webcam recorder - to allow visitors to record (video) from their own webcams, what would be the optimal file format for encoding the webcam recordings? From what I understand flv would be too low resolution, and mp4 would be best, but would use too much processing power, is their anything that would better quality than flash, and less power consuming than MP4, for this type of application?

Sounds like you've already just learned the major rule in video encoding: there is no "one size fits all" best, because best depends on the priority of the person doing the deciding.

Think more about your most common scenarios, and work backward from that model.

Hey Scott, are you boozing over there? Or using templates?

Hahaha, don't get mad, I'm just fooling around. Trying to liven up this joint.

Why go into the usual diatribe of educating the newbie, when a simple cliche will do just as well?

That, plus I DO happen to be boozing it this weekend. H2$ just closed!

Haha, yeah, exactly, and kill a little boredom. These newbs create their own petard hoisting.

Weird thing is those neighbors of mine have started burning catshit, in their backyard, I guess. It's a balmy night so it wafts in here. I don't smell it as much anymore, but I still get "the munchies" all of a sudden. Maybe there's a smokeless variety now.

They must go to 99Cent store for catfood, because the pungent odor when burned is different sometimes. When their friends come over. I wonder if the friends are bringing their CS to burn too?
