    hello i was filming a video with a mate on my mp4 player and then the battery died then i connected the mp4 player to the pc copied the video off opened with mpc and it dose not play only shows the first frame of the video and when i skip to parts of the video it dose nothing so i went and tried vlc player it did the same thing

    so i have tried to convert it with Avidemux 2.6 the app crashes and handbreak just stays on scanning source

    the file wasn't closed correctly
    the only thing i know, would be to use a HEX editor
    open a good avi from the same source
    and compare the opening header and the closing/end of file

    of the the two avi files

    the header usually contains the file info
    such as file length (number of bytes)
    and at what position the file actually starts (hex address of the start of the AVI file )
    and other data

    its a 3gp video not avi

    Looks like your 3gp file got corrupted. I would suggest to try to diagnose it for free using MP4repair.org. Then decide whether is worth to pay or not.

    According to the post "How to repair damaged .3gp files" on their blog you could also try to change the container using ffmpeg to see if that would help.

    yes i mean the two 3gp files,
    typo it was late at night here in Calif

    the repair score is 95% and the pics look fine but don't really wanna spend $40 to fix it
