I have done some rips in the past, without any issue, but now, when I open the project with DVD2AVI, and then convert to VCD or SVCD in TMPGenc 12a or 2.53 all seems to convert fine, but it plays way to fast. In other words, it plays at 50+ fps. I opened the properties box while in Windows Media player, and it shows the fps is 29.97, but it shows an actual of like 50+fps, and you can see that it is way too fast on the screen. Has anyone solved an issue like this?

Some more troubleshooting, the .VOB after ripping with SmartRipper 2.41 also play too fast, so it appears that the source is the root of the issue. I guess I need to ask in the ripping forum what could cause this.

Don't be too sure about that. I've noticed if I change any settings in the advanced tab, for some reason it changes the framerate in TMPG. Sounds more like a bug. I would select the file for encoding, select the template you want, make any advanced settings and then look at the framerate. I'll bet it changes. I've seen it on my side, I just change it back.

  4. i have a similar problem at times with mpeg 2 files, sometimes they will start to play really fast for no reason, yet if i stop it and play it again its fine. I think its more of a winodws codec problem. Im not ripping anything just playing clips captured with the dazzle 2 and it does it on
    occasion

Thank you for the replies. I actually went ahead and burned the VCD anyway, and it actually plays fine on my Pioneer. I took the VCD to my computer at home, and it plays fine. The computer at work plays the file fast! WTF is all I can say. Oh well, I will keep it as my ripping station, but I will play the files on a different computer for quality checks, etc.

Well, at least half of the movies I ripped with DVDx + TMPEGenc played too fast on a computer. But when burned to VCD they always play fine on any DVD player I've ever tried them. Since I watch them on TV I simply stopped paying attention to the fact that they run too fast on a PC.
