Maybe just my ignorance here, but this sounded to me like it could possibly have some potential for breaking some of the video apps we VH members use and discuss. (Depending on how the app was built by the developer.) An unwarranted concern, or ______ ? I like to check these things out, before saying 'Yes.' A few MS updates include a warning that once accepted they can't be undone. At least one previous DirectX update fell into that category.

  2. Looking up your link, it says:" platform update for Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1". So far I haven't seen this offered to me yet. If you have doubts about it, just don't update it on your system.

Didn't read through all the specs -- if it was x64 version specific, that could be why you did not see it. Out of an abundance of caution, I was intending to hold off on taking this, until I could find out a lot more about it.

Zowie ! ! And that link includes this one

I knew I had some reasonable reservations about this. Another strong vote for the 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it' school. If this is in fact a pre-req. for IE 10, I'd also say "Screw It." Can't stand IE 8 or 9, avoid ever using them unless it's truly unavoidable, like for a few sites that just won't display properly otherwise.

    Thanks.
