  1. I am sort of new to this so please bear with me. I followed the instructions in the "All In One Authoring Guide" under "How To." I have an Apex 500W DVD player. When I goto play my VCD, every 5 minutes or so the video will speed up real quick, and the voices and video are not synced. Then it will take a few minutes for the audio to catch back up. This happens through most of the movies I have made.

Is this normal? If not, how can I fix this problem? The converted movies (the DivX files made into MPEGS) are fine, so I think it has to do with the step where I actually burn the VCD. I tried slowing my CD burner down, and it helped a little, but not a whole lot. My computer is a 1.3 GHz Athlon with 256 MB of DDR RAM. My CD-RW is 8/4/32. Any help would be appreciated.

1- Try multiplexing with bbMPEG, if you have not already done so (TMPGEnc doesn't multiplex streams well, even its own)

2- It could be a number of other factors... I had (still have) this model, and this effect can be everything from a bitrate "dip" (very high to 0 suddenly) to a bad ROM unit.

You problem does sound like a multiplexing problem, when they go out of synch like that. Particularly with MPEG-1 streams, and since you said VCD, I assume that is MPEG-1...

  3. Thanks for the reply, but everything you said might as well of been in French. Basically, I should try this new program, bbMPEG, correct? If so, can you please supply a link for download? Thanks.

As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."
