For some reason my computer won't run Windows Movie Maker. (Crashes when importing video.)
I wanted to remove some scenes from a mpg file before creating a DVD. I'd use Avidemux, but sometimes when trying to cut and piece back together with that, I've had audio synch problems.
Anyone know a freeware program that (like Windows Movie Maker or Power Producer/Director) will allow removal of portions and not knock the soundtrack off?

MPEG2Cut2 should do the job.
I wouldn't call it like Windows Movie Maker or Power Producer/Director because I'd never use either of them. -
Both seem to have the feature I'm looking for.
An early version of either Producer or Director (forget which) worked very well for me. (Plus, it came free with the computer I had at the time.) -
Video to Video Converter. It has a function called "commercial remover" which will cut video and re-join it without re-encoding, and has a preview for applying the cuts. Or when you load a video for encoding you can apply cuts to it before doing so. I haven't used it for much encoding myself as it doesn't give you much control over encoder settings and I never encode video for DVDs, but it's very handy for the "odd jobs" most GUIs won't do, and it has an option to output DVD video format. I think it'll even burn the DVD for you when it's done.
