Odd intermittent buzzing on TV at volume 0 (zero)

Not sure if right place but I have an odd problem with my Wharfedale lcd37f1080p when the volume on the TV is at zero on the HDMI channel with a Onkyo HT-S3405 and a slim PS3 going through the Onkyo.

Its making intermittent buzzing noise. Listen to the video. Might need to up your volume!

If I set the volume higher than 0, it stops, but I get a constant quiet buzzing which is why I want it to 0 as the constant buzz dissapears at 0.

It only seems to happen when the PS3 is on and does it on both HDMI inputs on the TV. It happens rarely but it is annoying.

Could the capacitors in the TV be damaged and need replacing which I can do.

Any help appreciated.

Took it apart and couldnt see any bulging or problem caps. Just disconnected the speakers instead. Blissful quiet.

That may be the best way to go. You cannot diagnose capacitors just by looking at them most of the time, despite all the ill informed "information" out there on the web. It's probably cheaper just to bypass the problem.

Yeah, I really couldnt be bothered to replace all the caps!

Just in case anyone wants to know, for the model I worked on: Wharfedale LCD37F1080P, you can disconnect the speakers as circled in the image:



Easy peasy.

Edit: Just wanted to say, man those speakers are tiny! And this is an old tv about 3" thick, imagine how crappy todays super thin ones are!! Why do they bother?!?
