Hi,
im subtitling a mkv file and since i dont want to lose any quality im trying to use the same conversion settings as the original. However, according to mediainfo, my writing library is libebml v0.7.7 + libmatroska v0.8.1 whereas the original was written with libebml v1.2.3 + libmatroska v1.3.0. Does it mean mine is outdated? I searched the net and i found this:

i downloaded the page but now im dont know what to do next. Could you please help me?
Thank you.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays!

This is my problem. I made my editing in virtualdub on a raw mkv and then i start frameserving. After that, i open the avs file with FormatFactory and choose the all to mkv option. I copy all the settings from the original and press convert. After the video is finished. I open it with mediainfo and some of the data is still different to the original, such as the writing library and that. Also, despite i use the same nominal bitrate as the original, i get a lossy quality video. What can i do?
Thank you. -
You will lose quality if you are reconverting/hardcoding subtitles. EVEN if you use same bitrate or higher bitrate. But try increase the bitrate or use x264 constant quality/quantizer encoding and make some short test samples.
The mkv writing libraray doesn't matter. -

I haven't used format factory for a long time.
What can you select under the encoding settings? Just bitrate? No 2-pass, vbr, cq-settings? -
These are the settings:
it hasnt to be with format factory, if you know a better program im open to suggestions. -
Anyway, these are the settings of the original file, which im trying to preserve but i just cant.

Hi, i had tried megui before but i dumped it because i cant encode from frames served by virtualdub with it. I downloaded it again now and still the same problem. It says it cant locate the stream, which is bullshit because all the other programs can. Is there any way to fix this?
-
I don't know what supports virtualdub frameserver...I have only used it with tmpgenc about 10 years ago. .
