  2. Adaptec is a GREAT program, except for it's VCD burning. If it's not a PERFECTLY standard VCD compliant MPEG, it won't burn, and even if it is, sometimes it won't still. Use Nero to burn MPEGs as VCD.

Adaptec is great, but for VCDs use Nero, save yourself trouble.

  3. You're probably watching NTSC video on a PAL television or vice versa. If the mpeg is 352x240@29.97 frames/sec it's NTSC (American television standard), if it's 352x288@25 frames/sec it's PAL (European television standard).

Use Nero for VCD burning. Adaptec is good for all else, BUT VCD'ing. It is awful for it. Look under AUTHOR to the left, and you can d/l a trial version of nero @ www.ahead.de Also, before installing and running Nero, make sure to shut down BOTH - the DirectCD and the Roxio Projuect Selector from your Systray (lower right hand corner of your screen) if you don't the services will conflict

I tried nero 5.5 i have it here but both timed I ran it it would get to the end of converting the AVI then says a 0 error writing to cd i dropped to 8 times but no go. I expected to get the usual warning that nero and adeptec cant run together but it never happened so i didnt disable DirectCd could this be causing the porblem. As well as is there actually a program that can convert a avi to mpeg fast i had Panasonic and it took 8 hours to transfer a avi to mpeg that was 100 megs ????

  7. I have the same problem as rob. I can burn other VCD's fine, but this is the first time ive tried to convert anything and it plays fine on the PC, but on my DVD player it plays the sound fine, but the picture is black and white, and ive tried converting to both NTSC and PAL.
