whats the last stable one then
specifically for consecutive frame capturing, because 44465 and the latest beta dont do it properly
I havent messed with any setting except those in the capture window
I uninstalled kmplayer because I always had to change settings just to cap certain filetypes. Always had issues. Potplayer was great initially, I liked being able to watch 1080p vids without having to configure anything, but consecutive frame capturing has been problematic.
It skips frames while capturing, so the number in the capture window almost never matches what's actually saved. What needs to be changed? the renderer? Or do I have to use an earlier, more stable version? -
I'm a fan of Potplayer also, after having used MPC-HC and VLC for years (rarely used now). Amongst many others I also tried Smplayer (recommended here) and although better than other MPlayer front ends still found it quite basic and clunky to use. The biggest attraction of PP for me at the time was the speed and smoothness of playback, and reliability of DXVA for all HD media (MPC-HC and VLC were finicky, and custom codecs were a pain).
The main problem with Potplayer is the lack of official support, and the seemingly random new features (who asks for all these?), and potential "breaking" of existing features that may occur with each new release. But considering the huge amount of features it does have, it's a fairly small price to pay. One just needs to become an experimenter and find the version that works best for you. It's frustrating, but I can't see any way round it unless the developer reads these forums and communicates with the users directly (pretty time consuming and there's the language barrier too).
I'd suggest picking a version that does all you want and just sticking with it - that's what I've done. I'm sure the author must listen to some users due to wealth of new features constantly being added, but I suspect we're not the target audience here? In the mean time we can discuss these things and keep others aware. e.g. I wasn't even aware of consecutive frame capture until I read your post. An example of a feature I doubt I'll ever need, but you (and others) find essential.
I've since found out how to customize or "mod" PP slightly to meet my needs (Colour Profiler and Fractional Playback Speed), so that adds value for me too.Last edited by katipo; 1st Mar 2014 at 23:30.

yeah i make gifs so I NEED something that lets me burst capture frames
I've used gomplayer, then kmplayer, and now potplayer. As far as simply watching videos, potplayer has handled everything I've thrown at it with ease, but when it comes to capping its dropping the ball. Kmplayer and gomplayer were more reliable, but like I said I hate having to configure things. Between all the formats it gets tedious. And I couldnt use dxva and burst cap at the same time in kmplayer. -

Anyone try the new subtitle word search feature? How can I get it to use the second or third search engine? If it's possible, I can't figure it out. Or can I only use just one at a time?
-
Right click on a word to search... You'll get other options. BTW, is the subtitle downloading feature (OSDb) working?
-
Duh... Didn't think of the obvious.
Yes the osdb downloading feature is working. It found stuff for me.
On the other hand it seems like potplayer can't display the musical note character anymore...
Nevermind. The subtitle selection feature played tricks on me.Last edited by mzso; 6th Mar 2014 at 12:45.

Musical note character?
BTW, OSDb is not working here. Hmmm....
Can't figure out the reason why it's working for you, not for me.Last edited by sheppaul; 6th Mar 2014 at 12:50.

Ehhh. Forget it. I made a mistake. It's this BTW: "♪" Usually with singing or whatever.
I just loaded one. The only issue I had that when I saved the loaded subtitle, it was saved as smi. (Don't know why the obsesssion with this stupid format) While normally it stays the format I used. If I save it, instead of loadin the default is again smi, but at least I can change it.
Do you have 1.5.45955, which is the latest? -
i think i may have solved my frame capture problem
i was consec capping a 1080p vid, and had the same issue i mentioned previously
today i changed file name contains to system date and time
No frames were skipped afterwards. Gonna try some other vids to see if thats the fix -
hi
I have download the latest version 1.5.45955, my language is Arabic, the subtitle shows words correctly but ordered from (left to right) for example:
the correct sentence:
يبدو أنك تشعر بالملل
but it appears like this:
بالملل تشعر أنك يبدو
I checked all settings and nothing wrong!
finally I had to replace an old file to fix this bug!!
the file is PotPlayer64.dll from 1.5.40688 version -
Great!
It looks it's based on the translation we alread had. Anyone knows who makes the english translations? It's filled with google translate engrish like "Times the size of the screen to a fixed", which I'm still digesting. Is it the DVBsupport guys? Can I report translation stuff to them?

Can you give a link to the beta page so I can add it to the first post? I mean where the dev posts it with changelog/version number. I guess you get the latest stable from here: http://tvpot.daum.net/application/PotPlayer.do
Is there a changelog/announcement page for the stable version? -

hey guys, the random PotP crashes right after seeking are starting to turn me crazy.....I've disabled all internal filters and I'm using Reclock/LAV/mVR, is there anything I could do?
I now get crash reports from mVR and basically PotP crashes after mVR says that it could draw PotP's OSD if it wanted to, I already whined about this problem to ahaahlive a while ago and he would either tell me that seamless playback is in beta stage or that I could always use another player and STFU.
I'm gonna try my luck with KMP, but would anyone have a magical fix to my problem please? Can you open 30 files in a row and skip randomly without the whole thing crashing?
And what's up with "Multi-language support (English / Chinese language support)", no need for translated builds anymore? -
IIRC, that function is specifically only for internal things. So you should try how it works with internal codec/renderer etc combinations.
ps. I just tried the function and wow, it really works without any hassle.. Can't believe it.Last edited by sheppaul; 18th Mar 2014 at 11:33.

well yeah I thought about that, but I'm not giving up on mVR & Reclock.....and if that's really mandatory, I would like a simple way to toggle them as I run many autoloading profiles in PotP that use different PS shaders based on resolution and frame rate.
I whined again to ahahlive about this a few days ago, we'll see what he's got to say this time.
PS: wow, no kidding the latest beta is also in english now! I really hated how dvbsupport always put 7zip passwords on betas. -

Seamless playback sucks... Half the time I get "parameter not correct" when I switch to another file on the playlist.
