I think I found two another shortcommings dealing subtitles handling:
1) Either Apply IDX/SUB custom position state is ignored or the feature is not working properly, VobSub subtitles (dependent on spliiter). I didnot examine with separate IDX/SUB files but at least in muxed track in Matroska custom position is ignored
2) when playing video in MKV with embedded SRT subtitles, there appears something like flickering effect on subtitles regardless on used splitter (internal/LAV/Haali). Seems appear only on SRT track inside MKV. Watching embedded VobSub subtitles seems not expose this effect, also using external SRT file aside of AVI seems render as expected. I suppose this has something to do with superfluous rendering from some cache regards to when I quickly switch between different embedded SRT tracks on splitter menu, theres clearly being seen old subtitles text is glimmering for a while over newly selected subtitle. Can also this be some interference with DirectVobSub filter? I'm not using it but Im aware of it installed. Can anybody confirm this as known bug or problem with my config/interference with 3rd party component.

First of all, I love the program except for one thing. If I try to play SRT subtitles from a separate file, the colors are black with white border not white with black borders. All other type work fine. If there is a way to fix this no one has come up with it and I sure cannot find it. Other than that, love it! It plays AVISynth, plays a converting video WHILE it's converting to trial view the result, allows external codecs if you wish, and of course plays everything, just to mention a few...

I have no such problem with srt subtitles. Can you leave a link for the subtitle?
-
It is actually ANY SRT subtitle of the same name in the same folder that Potplayer automatically picks up to select. If I have:
Video.FLV, video.SRT, video.IDX and video.sub, and video.ass all in the same folder, the ASS and SUB/IDX look fine but the SRT are reverse being dark letters with white trim.
.ASS subtitle
.SRT subtitle
sub/idx subtitle

Thanks a lot of the timely help. I found it after you confirmed it was normal on yours. It was the subtitles setting being set to the opposite for transparency. I c ouldn't really see what they were so I changed all to weird colors (red,Green, yellow) and then adjusted to find the correct settings. Guess they were defaulted and I had never used SRT before. Recently I wrote a program to convert SRT 3D to 2D and it showed up.
Correct now:
Now I love PotPlayer 100%.
Thanks much for the help!
Happy Holidays!

OOOPS. Must have crossed over responses.
Thanks Much for the help! Really Appreciate it. Wasn't a bg problem but a little distracting.
Thanks again. Changing it now. -
Does anyone use one of these skins:
Code:BlackBox_en.dsf BlackBox2_en.dsf BlackBox3_en.dsf BlackSpace_en.dsf default.dsf
To me the logo (which shows the time) doesn't keep in the middle only whit these: Olddefault.dsf, original_en.dsf, and built in skin... Does anyone have the same issue? It looks rather ugly.
I've been using a mod of original_en. Recently I decided to switch the logo to that of the Blackbox skins. And that's when I noticed this.
Also I see no configuration in the skin besides background color and choosing the swf files. -
I use an en [+] 3.1 skin and custom logo too but couldn't find such a problem. I guess it's a skin issue

At least, that logo works correctly in the skin itself. I'll try it if you leave a link for the skins.

Nah... I tried with an older version too and a new profile. Maybe it's a windows 8/8.1 thing.
Let's wait for more feedbacks. -

I have Windows 7 and if I turn the Logo on to get the time, it also goes to the upper left on stop. Probably some setting in the skins area but I can't find it.
Update. It looks like it stays the same size as the video on mine but when I hit stop, I have the window resize to the default and the time does not resize with it. If I uncheck 'Reset size to default on file close, the windows stays the same as the last played file and the time in then in the middle.
I'd say it's a bug when you choose to resize on close and the time does not resize with it.Last edited by Budman1; 6th Jan 2014 at 23:50.

I can't find that option. Where is that?
BTW way I have potplayer not changing windows size at the moment, unless I go full screen. (Playback > Screen Size > Default Screen size and General > Startup > Custom Size and position)
And the bug still happens.Last edited by mzso; 7th Jan 2014 at 08:20.

Okay these are the options that will cause the time to remain in the center. Bear in mind, the time seems to be the size of whatever video is playing and when the stop is pressed, the time stays the same so if the window resizes the time will not and will not be in the center. Sort of like subtitles that are too big for the video resolution
.
Notice my cursor pointing to the resize on stop'
ALSO be sure to close and reopen Potplayer or the options do not seem to apply. -
How old of a version you are using? Because those settings look a lot different now.
Looks like this is incredibly buggy. If I have [skin default logo], or normal logo selected for loading it's guaranteed that the logo moves into the corner. If I have restore enabled only it moves where would have been while the playback was running (of course it's not visible in that case), which might be outside screen. But pressing an additional "stop", or resizing manually puts it back in it's place.
It also means that for some reason it doesn't like loading logos these skins have. But with the the built in and freMea's themes' loading logos work fine. -
Well, as far as I know its. PotPlayer 1.5.40688 / 1.5.43968 Beta which shows as the latest here. What version do you have?
-
Okay, that is 40688, and it's is supposed to be the latest stable (regardless of the "-Beta" appendix). I'm using 43968. (beta)

By the way, try turing off the option "Direct3d 9Ex" to none in preferences. It's in Video section.
