I attempted to install an application but failed. Since then, my system got corrupted and started malfunctioning. I am neither able to run the applications which were already installed, nor to uninstall them. Clicked the shortcut and also tried to run from the program, but both failed. Tried to uninstall them thro system and also by using CCleaner but couldn't. Pop up message was flashed from antivirus which is attached. However, a few programs run by clicking the short cuts. Couldn't activate system restore also.
Could anyone give me solutions / remedial measures.Click image for larger version

Perhaps try an offline scan like Windows Defender offline.

Download it from Microsoft, create the CD and boot from it.

a couple of things come to mind, first things first, i'm guessing your antivirus is blocking execution of those programs (as that pop up indicates), turn off the heuristic active scanning and try to launch/uninstall.install the programs you are having problems with. if it works, then perform the installs/uninstalls you want and run a complete virus scan.

@davexnet - Thanks for the suggestion. I will certainly try that.

@deadrats - Actually, I disabled the antivirus function in my av program when I started to install the application, despite which the pop up flashed. Anyway, thanks for your help.

@davexnet - I scanned the system with Windows Defender offline as you said. It detected two Adware files and removed them.
Now, everything works fine except Avidemux 2.6.1. The moment I open a file, it crashes. However, these adware were not detected by the paid software. Thanks a lot.

  8. You may find the free version of Malwarebytes Anti-malware useful.
One of the best scanners out there. Just remember the free version doesn't auto-update. Manually update the database before a scan.

Thanks for your reply. I already have a paid version of internet security software in the system. Should I disable it prior to running the malwarbytes. Will there be a conflict between the softwares.

  10. No need to disable the anti-virus. It's only a malware scanner so it shouldn't conflict at all.
I use it in conjunction with Avast and they play together fine.

EDIT: if, by some chance, you do find a major infection, you are better running it in Safe Mode.

@transporterfan - After scanning by malwarebites it detected one malware and it was removed. This one was not detected by
windows defender offline. So, we need to run a few applications to keep the system clean, I think. Howabout Spybot-S&D, is it preferable to malwarbytes, any idea.
    Thanks for your suggestion.

  12. I have tried them all over the years (many years. LOL).
I am not criticizing any in particular, different strokes for different folks...
Settled on Avast Free (I'm mean), MalwareBytes (free, again) and Kaspersky stand-alone, TDSSKiller (anti-rootkit), also free.
To be frank, if anything gets through those three I would reload a backup mirror and start again.
If you want TOTAL protection, the only answer is to use a virtual operating system or something like:

    Hope that helps.
