Hello all, I searched the forums & didn't see what I was looking for. Here is what I have going on. I play bluray MKV files on my WD TV through my 3TB hard drives. I am currently using Aiseesoft BD to MKV Copy program to create the MKV files from my Bluray movies. Here is where I am stuck. I have used this to create an MKV of Zombieland, with the program the lowest size file I could create is 16GB. What I am looking for at this point is a program where I can take that 16GB MKV & shrink it down.

If anyone can help I would appreciate it. I want to keep using the Aiseesoft program to create the MKV from my Bluray, I just need another program to reduce the size of the MKV please.

    Thanks.

Yea, i just downloaded it last night. I tried also following the steps outlined below on how to shrink it but I don't have the same items in my Handbreak as he pictured in the tutorial.

it shows in his tutorial to go to video tab and choose Target Size (MB), mine doesn't have that available.

  6. I don't use Handbrake much but I think the target size option was remove. You have to specify the file size by bitrate now. So, if you want a file that's half the size of your source, use half the bitrate.

    - I don't think there's a single knowledgeable person here who would recommend Aiseesoft. Try something else.

    - it's not a good idea to compress your br video to an mkv and then reencode it because the file is too big for your liking. You'll lose significant quality. Use a decent encoder on the original br rip, once. You can get really good h.264 encodes resized to 720p in 2Gb or less if you use the right settings/presets.

    - handbrake actually has excellent documentation. It's the best I've ever seen for freeware. Most paid programs don't have docs that good. But it helps if you actually know which question to ask. As mentioned above, try the guides here.
