I'm trying to decide between the two cameras. The reviews are stating the HF R300 does better video. Any suggestions?

  2. Run into Best Buy with a couple of SD cards and compare for yourself?

I would but I'm fairly new to camcorders and HD so I wouldn't know what to look for.

    Thanks.

  4. Sony seems to be playing a little coy about the size of their sensor which makes me wary.

That said, see which one feels better to you to use, then compare the pictures on your computer and/or TV. Both are perfectly fine, both have limitations. There's really no wrong choice here.

Any ideas how I can check out the low light settings with this method since the store is well lit.

Ask the salesman if you can do some quick tests

Many stores have a "home theater" demo room that is usually very dark (probably too dark for these models , so leave the door open to let some light in).
